Ragogna lake

A natural marshy area located between the municipalities of Ragogna and San Daniele del Friuli

Of glacial origin, the lake was formed about 12,000 years ago in a depression in the hills. The basin is elliptical in shape, with a diameter of approximately 700 m, a maximum depth of 9-10 m and an area of 25 ha. The lake is fed not only by atmospheric precipitations, but also by an underground spring and by small streams coming from the surrounding hills. Not far to the north is an ancient Jewish cemetery.
